Urban regeneration is a key responsibility for Portadown2000. The company is currently delivering the Portadown Development Framework, a comprehensive physical and economic regeneration progamme through a multi-function land use strategy to secure the long term sustainability of the town. The initiative has the support of many statutory agencies but particularly the Department of Social Development and Craigavon Borough Council.
Portadown2000 was created by Craigavon Borough Council in 1994. The company is located at the Millennium Court, a multi-purpose facility which includes:
- -Urban regeneration and town centre management offices for Portadown 2000
- -A 10,000 sq ft prestigious visual and verbal contemporary Arts Centre
- -Tourist Information point
- -Traditional weekly market
- -Nine independent business start-up units
- -Additional public facilities
